On the Run (Big Mike and Minnie Book 1) - Susan Amanda Kelly

First of all I want to thank Susan Amanda Kelly for her free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Home. Caffeine. Aspirin. Fresh lipstick.

Minerva Coolidge arrives at JFK airport after having, successfully, escaped her overprotective family. She is a successful model and so close to being a star in a fashion show… but then she is kidnapped. Slowly she understands the seriousness of the situations and when she thinks that there is no way out some guy shows up. He’s not just any guy but he is huge, massive and tall as an oak tree but sadly he’s only a four in her first estimation of his looks.
Big Mike was send by her brother to keep her safe until he would get to her and bring her home safely but Minnie doesn’t really agree. She is determined to walk on the runway in the fashion show and goes out of  her way to make it all possible, even if it means that she has to escape Big Mike’s protection.

This novel is so much fun to read and with loads of humour it is a good read.
We get introduced to Minerva Coolidge right at the start and immediately get a good idea of what she is like, but there is more than meets the eye. She is not just blond, blue-eyed and a good looking model but she’s also capable of things she couldn’t even imagine.
Mike is just a mountain of a guy, ex-military and ex-biker, who is great with emotions on the inside… on the outside he just one large mass of impassiveness. While at first he feels determined to do as he was asked, he starts to have doubts after a while which all strangely concern Minnie.
Throughout the book there is a change in character and in the relationship between Big Mike and Minnie, something I personally really liked. There is not only Romance in this book but a lot of action and a lot of moments where a reader might die of laughter. There was not too much detail, what really suited the book, and I liked that the book was not written in first person but that it had room to show other perspectives once in a while.

To be honest some parts of this book were quite predictable from the start but mind that it didn’t matter for me because I really wanted to read on.
Word of caution: some scenes are not meant for younger readers (though there are few it’s a good thing to know from the start).

I am very much looking forward to reading the sequel!

Overall I found this book very fun to read and I’d recommend it to anyone who is in for a book that makes you laugh. This book is a good blend between romance and action.
I give this book 3.5 stars because I liked reading it! and I’m just a sucker for these kind of books :’) :)
